How to Stay Fit This Summer (Even With the Kids at Home)
Summer break is here — and if you’re a parent, that often means juggling camps, road trips, late bedtimes, and a whole lot of chaos. It’s easy to let your own wellness goals slide. But staying consistent with your workouts isn’t just about keeping up your fitness — it’s about protecting your energy, mood, and patience during one of the busiest times of year. Here’s how to make your fitness routine work for you this summer — even with the kids around.
1. Lower the Bar, Stay in the Game
You don’t need to PR every workout or stick to a perfect plan. This season is about consistency! Don’t skip just because it’s not ideal. Showing up imperfectly is still showing up.
2. Book It Like a Camp
Treat your workouts like your kids’ activities. Schedule them. Block time. Add them to the calendar. Make them non-negotiable. This shifts working out from “extra” to “essential.”
3. Involve the Family
Turn movement into quality time. Let the kids watch you work out, have them count your reps, or bring them to our kids corner. Show them what it looks like to care for yourself — they’re always watching.
4. Lean on Your Community
Trying to go it alone during summer is tough. But when you’re part of a group that expects you and misses you, it’s easier to keep showing up. Accountability is everything. Haven’t been in for a while? Shoot us a message — we’ll help you ease back in.
Summer might look different, but your goals don’t have to take a back seat. At CrossFit Expedition, we help parents like you make fitness a sustainable part of real life, not just a seasonal phase. Whether it’s early mornings, quick WODs, or bringing the kids along — we’ve got you.
